 | | Relationship Building | This partnership pairs fourth grade classrooms from Stillwater and St.
Paul Elementary Schools, allowing students to engage in a process of
cultural self-awareness and identity development.
The project teaches Minnesota State Science
Standards through identifying and locating stars, planets and
constellations. This classroom curriculum is expanded upon through a
visit to a portable Star Lab and the Como Planetarium. All learning occurs within small cross-district learning teams.
Star Lab | | Portable Star Lab | is an indoor, portable, inflatable classroom and planetarium.
It can comfortably hold up to 30 students and takes approximately 15
minutes to inflate and 5 minutes to deflate. The Star Lab is a unique
teaching tool for presenting physical science, astronomy, earth science
and other topics. The Star Lab allows students to view constellations
and stars seen in the evening winter sky, but in the warmth of the
building and during the day. It also allows students to get a glimpse
of how other cultures view and interrupt the stars and universe.
